1. Do you know reported speech? In which text did you find reported speech?
Answer: Yes, I do.
Reported speech is used to tell someone about what someone else said.
In text 2 we can find reported speech, specifically indirect speech.

2. Do you think that reported speech is commonly found in texts like Text 2? Why do you think so?
Answer: Reported speech sentences are widely used in "news item" texts as in text 2.
It is because news texts usually quote a lot of sentences from sources.
There are two ways to describe what other people say in English, through direct speech and indirect speech.
Direct and indirect speech are part of reported speech.
