It was built by the Sultanate of Deli in 1888 and the architecture features Malay, Mogul and Italian influences.
It has 30 rooms, but only the main room, which features the lavish inauguration throne, is open to public.

Maimun Palace is located on Jalan Brig. Jend. Katamso in downtown Medan.
This historic building is open to public every day, except when there is a special ceremony or occasion.
The back wing of the palace is occupied by members of the sultan's family.
